Our Community in South Weymouth
The town of Weymouth, MA has maintained its small-town sense of community despite how large it has grown and populated since its founding in 1935. Town residents identify with their neighborhoods: North Weymouth, known for its ocean views, beaches, parks, and the birthplace of Abigail Adams; East Weymouth where the historic Town Hall was rebuilt in 1928 as a replica of the old Massachusetts State House in Boston; Weymouth Landing, where local homes stand as well-maintained examples of early American architecture; and South Weymouth, where we are happily located alongside the largest independently operated hospital in Eastern MA, South Shore Hospital.
Located in Columbian Sq, home to the Cameo theater, the Fogg Library, and the Fogg Opera House, South Shore Hospital opened in 1922 as Weymouth Hospital. Since then it has become a leader in acute, outpatient, home health, and hospice care and home to a thriving branch of the Dana Farber Cancer Center.
