Q.What
is your mission statement?
A. Well, to take my creative talents and help women through the devastating
side effects of Chemotherapy and Radiation Therapy. Especially hair loss.
Q.How do you think you can do that?
A. As a licensed
cosmetologist of 18 years and an award winning makeup artist, I'd like
to think that I CAN make
a difference!
From the little old lady who has a standing appointment every week at
the beauty salon (And girls we may be little but we are never old) ,
to the young mothers and teenagers who want to be able to continue an
active life style.
Q. Patricia, what makes you different from other wig suppliers?
A. First of all, at Patricia & Company we are very unique in the sense
that wigs are one of our main focuses I like to think of Patricia & Company
as their place and not mine. I offer some of the finest wigs from Ultra-lies
to mono tops with sun streaks and Chunk Frost colors.
Q. What do you mean by Ultra-Lite?
A. They actually weigh an ounce to an ounce and a half . They are especially
great for women with thinning hair, commonly referred to as "male pattern
baldness".
Q. So does that mean you also deal with Alopecia clients?
A. Absolutely! A dear friend of mine has Alopecia Universal. For years
she was spending thousands of dollars per year, needless to say, she
is
thrilled that I have gone into this line of work.
I have been fortunate to develop a relationship with a company
that has a product which is medically acceptable and when used to line
parts of the wig will bond with the
body temperature. The beauty of this is that it does not add a lot
of weight to the wig and will prevent the wig from slipping or sliding
around.
For years my friend would have to use double sided tape or adhesives to keep
her wig in place.
This lining especially makes a big difference in the lives of young children
with Alopecia.

Q. Is this lining good for your Oncology Clients?
A. You bet! I've been offering it to my clients for
years. Let's put it this way, it went down Space Mountain in Disney World
and
never moved. NOW THAT
IS SECURITY!!!!
Q. Where do you clients hear about you?
A. Of course word of mouth is always a good referral. As well as the
doctors and nurses I have worked with over the years. I am also contracted
by most of the major insurance companies.
Q. So Insurance companies will cover wigs?
A. Yes! Blue Cross has always been pretty good about that. But The Women's
Health and Cancer rights act passed in August 1998 mandated Harvard
Pilgrim & Tufts Health to pay for scalp "prosthesis".
As so many things in life, there are always exceptions.
Like Federal Blue Cross will not as well as Medicare. Because the Federal
guidelines don't allow it. I try to stay well informed and by being a
contracted provider , I submit the claims for them. In many cases there
is no out-of-pocket cost for my clients.
Q. What else do you carry besides Wigs?
A. You name it and we have it! We carry slumber caps, wraps, bandanas
bangs & a full circle of hair. We go a step further, considering that
the largest
organ in your body is your skin, we offer skin care. Because Chemotherapy
can effect ever organ in your body, your skin can become very dry. We
researched and found a great Holistic Skin Care line that nourishes the
skin and an eye cream that has me hooked!
Q. It seems you have all bases covered?
A. I never stop looking for the right products. Actually right now I
offer Jane Iredale Mineral make-up. As an award winning makeup artist
I love
their concealer and bronzers. If you are going to deal with Cancer
why not look healthy!
Q. Are you available to answer questions through
your email?
A. I would consider it a pleasure! I will do the very best I can!
